Files are processed right on your device.

Output requirements

  • The password is only used on this device to decrypt — it is not sent or stored. The unlocked file has no password, so keep it safe.
  • The result has no password and no permission restrictions; pages, bookmarks and forms are kept.
  • The file is digitally signed: after unlocking, the signature is no longer valid.

How to use

  1. Add a password-protected or permission-restricted PDF (several files are fine).
  2. Files that need a password: press “Enter password” and type the password to open it — usually given in the email or message that came with it.
  3. Files that are only restricted: confirm you have the right to the document and press “Remove restrictions”.
  4. Download the unlocked copy, or continue with Merge, Compress, Watermark… without uploading again.

Current limits

  • No guessing or cracking: you need to know the password that opens the file.
  • Supports the standard PDF encryption: RC4 40–128 bit, AES-128, AES-256. Certificate-encrypted PDFs are not supported yet.
  • Digital signatures in the file are no longer valid after unlocking.
  • The result has no password — store and share it carefully.

Frequently asked questions

Is my password sent anywhere?

No. The password is only used in your browser on this device to decrypt the file; it is not sent to a server and not stored.

Can I open it if I forgot the password?

No. PDF Tool Plus does not guess or crack passwords. Ask whoever sent the file (bank, employer…) — the password is usually given in the email or message that came with it.

When should I remove restrictions?

When the document is yours (e.g. an invoice or statement sent to you) and you need to merge, compress or stamp it for an application. Do not remove restrictions from documents you have no right to use.

Can I unlock while preparing documents?

Yes. When you add a password-protected PDF to any tool, the notice offers “Enter password”; once unlocked, the file is added right where you were working.
